Velvets, textures and fabrics galore! In the historic city of High Point, North Carolina, the textile industry gathers twice a year for the largest decorative fabric show in the United States. Hosted by the International Textile Alliance, thousands of meetings are made between 800 buyers and the world's textile converters and fabric mills. I believe I have previewed over 10,000 fabrics this week alone. From upholstery to performance fabrics, prints and outdoor, to drapery and sheers… I have searched the best fabrics and looked for the best prices to offer to our customers.
Trending for 2017
- Every textile vendor had a performance story. Offering a "livable” and cleanable story to the residential market. This includes beautiful wovens, jacquards and prints with the ability to withstand dirt, children, pets and spills. Revolution®, Crypton Home®, Nanosphere and Endurapel stories were all a buzz from showroom to showroom. Characteristics included stain resistant, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and easy to clean were required.
- Coral is the new red. This color trend is labeled from names like Tuscan to Tutti Fruiti. Every mill had a collection of this vivacious color. Bright, bold and fun this color trend will add freshness to any palette.
- A new neutral is being introduced into the residential décor market: Rose Quartz. Accents of soft blush metallics to full color palettes of this popular eye shadow color are being used in home décor fabrics.
- Bringing the outdoors in. Outdoor fabrics are being woven with a softer hand and are being used indoors due its performance story. Beautiful wovens and jacquards made from olefin, solution dyed acrylic and polyester offer a cleanable story. Water repellent, bleach cleanable and anti-microbial, this indoor movement offers a wider selection of decorative fabrics to your living room.
I am looking forward to introducing these new and exciting fabric trends over the coming months to our customers. Stay tuned for New Fabrics Every Month.
